This is a work in progress. This is me overcoming inertia and fighting the battle of perfectionism getting in the way of done. This is me fighting the urge to hyperfixate and type all the thoughts.
I want to help people. I donโt want to be an โInfluencerโ but if I can influence a few people along the way to think differently that helps them understand a little more about themself or others that makes me happy. Iโm certainly not comfortable with the idea of sitting in my car making videos for social media. I am a voice of one; one life, one experience. I cannot speak for all neurodivergent people. I cannot speak for all people who live with chronic pain, ME, hearing impairment or mobility issues. I can share my lived experiences, I can share accommodations that made my life easier, frustrations, challenges and insights. I can share research and facts, and maybe bring together a collection of voices. Iโve got lots of things stuck in my head that I want to share. Inclusion sits at the heart of it because inclusion benefits us all.
I know I can change minds. I can tell a personal story that helps people connect and understand what it means to overcome barriers and why breaking down those barriers is important. I have spoken open and honestly and seen people change their minds and commit to making a difference by starting with a small change.
I want accessibility, inclusion and equity to be the bare minimum and not an after thought.
I want to remove the stigma of labels, such as (but not limited to) autism and ADHD.
I want people to know their worth and to be seen.
I want people to realise that we are all greater than our labels.
